Our Story
Decades of Island Service, Backed by New Capabilities
Since 1982, The Mainland Connection has helped Nantucket residents, homeowners, and professionals move what matters on and off the island. Founded by islanders, for islanders, the company grew up navigating Steamship Authority schedules, narrow historic-district streets, and the seasonal rhythms that shape life here. Over the years, we became a trusted name for moving, storage, and delivery by treating every project—and every piece—with the same care we would give our own
The Rivershops Partnership
Island Roots, Mainland Resources
In 2024, The Mainland Connection joined The Rivershops Mattapoisett, bringing together deep island experience with expanded mainland resources. This partnership strengthens our operational capacity, adds support for designer receiving and installation work, and allows us to run more efficient, well-planned projects from dock to doorway. While our ownership has evolved, the essentials have not: we are still your neighbors, committed to the same careful handling, clear communication, and steady reliability that have defined us for more than four decades.
Whether you are a year-round resident, a seasonal homeowner, or a designer managing your first island installation, you get the benefit of both worlds—local insight on Nantucket and thoughtful backing on the mainland.
